From Texas, back to life

I’m flying back home from Austin after my first time attending SXSW Interactive. After five days of panels and parties, I’m exhausted but I feel great.

An engaging story

An adventure, in which I ask the most important question of my life and Laura gets a blender.

Rob Bingaman

Rob has known me longer than anybody not related by blood or law. He has laughed at me more, longer and louder than anyone else. He paints pictures and cooks dead animals better than anybody I know. He is the most loyal friend I’ll ever have.

The (Icky) Musical Baton

I’m horrified that I’m doing this, but Jeff is a nice guy and he passed me this -awful chain letter- musical baton.

Since I stopped wearing a watch, I’m learning how to be on time.

Weary Travel’s End

Lately every time I go on a vacation I end up imagining what it would be like to live there. It’s never really accurate, cities are never the same when you live there as you remember when you visited.

Lost and Found

Six months from now, this is probably the entry you’re going to look back on and say “that’s when I stopped reading, when he started writing about his cat.” Just remember, you were warned.

Pleased to Meet You

When I first started working on the current site redesign, I wanted to expand the site and make it more of a complete profile, or at least a kind of ongoing snapshot of my life.

Laura

Laura is the only girl I know tall enough to kiss me without standing on her tiptoes. Laura is the only girl I want to kiss. Laura makes my bad days good and my good days better. Let me introduce you to my best done girl, my honey-colored blonde, the girl of my dreams.

Do Nothing More

I’m a lists person. I’m one of those people who makes lists that include things I’ve already done just so I can check things off. But I never have been much for new year’s resolutions.

Partial to the Permanent

Laura came home to Wichita with me for Christmas this year, which probably should have been a Big Deal, except that it happened completely by accident.

Decoration Magic

It’s that time of year again, and everybody’s got a story about Christmas decorations. Ok, maybe not.

Echo Chimes

My neighbors have my grandmother’s clock. It’s one of those big standup clocks with heavy chimes that sounds like Big Ben when it goes off.

Where Thieves Break In and Steal

This was civic participation week. I cast my muted vote, I filed my first police report, and I restored my car to its rightful place in the registers of the county.

Hard Times in New York Town

Five days in New York was a great to get away, to see old friends and wander the capital of the world in the beginning days of fall. Still, something was different this time.

The Long March to Well

I never used to get sick. All through high school and college, I don’t remember a single day or class I missed because I was actually legitimately sick. This year, it’s been different.

Climbing Up the Walls

While we’re on the subject of things I wouldn’t normally do on my own, but I’m glad I get to do anyway because my friends drag me along, I’ve been going to the gym lately.

Positive Encouragement

Rob seems to have taken it upon himself this summer to make sure I make it to as many once-in-a-lifetime concerts as possible within a 300-mile radius.

Weekend Edition

A while ago, Rob suggested that I should rename my site Wilson Miner: Weekend Edition. He was only half-joking, but his point was well taken.
